Příbram - Příbram will not begin an expensive reconstruction of the aquapark next year as originally predicted. The preparations for the project have become complicated, and the city returned the budget proposal to the documentation processor. According to Mayor Jindřich Vařeka (ANO), it was not sufficiently developed, and the councilors also disagreed with the proposed total amount.
The preliminary study estimated the costs at 200 to 300 million CZK, but the proposed budget was 364 million crowns. Vařeka told ČTK that this figure is not well substantiated, and the city would definitely not want to reconstruct the aquapark at this price.
The mayor believes that the budget could be lower. "If there is a fire wall for 20 million, we ask whether this is a necessary investment and if it couldn't be solved with an ordinary partition for a few thousand," he cited one example. The budget should also be prepared in various options so that the councilors can choose the most suitable one.
The main issue with the Příbram aquapark is the technology, which is up to 40 years old. Last year, Příbram councilors chose the most extensive of the five proposed options for renovating the interior, which includes the extension of a relaxation and sauna area of 1,000 square meters and the enlargement of the swimming hall by two swimming lanes. The city wants to take a loan for the project, and according to the city hall's management, part of the costs could be covered by the expected increase in attendance.
