In the Gallery of the Central Bohemia Region in Kutná Hora, a guesthouse will open on August 4th

Kutná Hora – A guesthouse will open on August 4 in the former Jesuit college in Kutná Hora, where the Central Bohemian Region Gallery (GASK) is located. It consists of five rooms accommodating a total of 15 people. Thanks to the accommodation, visitors will be able to stay on the premises longer. The reconstruction of the original economic building cost 12.3 million crowns, and the project was financed from the budget of the Central Bohemian Region, Alena Sedláčková from the gallery informed ČTK today.

"We perceive the guesthouse as a natural extension of the gallery's activities. It will offer visitors the opportunity to stay on the premises longer, to experience its atmosphere at a calmer pace, and to connect their stay in Kutná Hora with the art, architecture, and history of this place," stated GASK director Jana Šorfová.

The building in which the guesthouse was created was constructed in the 1730s and served as the economic and operational support for the baroque complex of the Jesuit college. According to Sedláčková, its reconstruction sensitively responds to the original character of the building, respects its historical value, and at the same time meets the current needs of visitors. "The guesthouse is furnished in a modern style that utilizes natural materials, clean lines, and subdued colors," added Sedláčková.

The names of the rooms reference personalities connected with the history of the Jesuit college. Guests can stay in the Orsi apartment, the Lurago studio, the Dientzenhofer room, the Špork room, and the Baugut room. The individual spaces are complemented by reproductions of key works from the GASK collections. The accommodation also includes free tickets to the gallery, where visitors can view the permanent exhibition, current exhibitions, and take advantage of a children's playroom.

"The renovation of this building is an example of meaningful use of a historic object that remains part of the public space while gaining a new function. It is an investment in cultural infrastructure and in the development of tourism in Kutná Hora," said regional councilor for culture Václav Švenda (Allies).

The Central Bohemian Region Gallery focuses on visual arts from the 20th and 21st centuries. In the historic complex of the Jesuit college, it operates not only exhibition spaces and an educational center but also takes care of the monastery gardens, which are accessible to the public and host a number of cultural and social events.
