Prague will become the venue for the international landscape festival Landscape during the summer months, which addresses urban public space and the urbanized landscape in the Czech Republic. From March 7 to March 18, the organizing Gallery of Jaroslav Fragner will present an exhibition titled "Discover the Prague Wilderness!", which will showcase this year's intentions of the Landscape Festival, projects, and concepts for selected locations in the city districts of Prague 3, Prague 7, and Prague 8. Additionally, there will be an expert debate on March 13.

“For this year's edition of the Landscape Festival, Prague locations have been selected based on discussions with the professional public, which are currently the subjects of conversations about their new future – Vítkov Hill, Štvanice Island, Rohanský Island, and the Žižkov Freight Station. These should become examples of quality urban landscape and public space development in the broader center of Prague as part of future revitalization. One of the main themes of this year's edition will be the sustainability of environmental quality in relation to the urban landscape and public spaces of Czech cities and discussions on climate change adaptation. The festival presents Prague in new environmental contexts,”
comments the festival Jakub Hepp.

The festival does not have a central space. Its main idea is to create an alternative tourist route against the overheated center, connecting the "Prague wildernesses" and showcasing the potentials of possible future centers of social activities in these city districts. It also involves searching for broader urban relationships with other locations, such as Holešovická Market, Bubny, Florenc, Palmovka, Olšanská, or Jarov. At many places along this route, daffodils planted during an autumn workshop will soon bloom. They will illuminate the path leading to the upcoming festival and draw attention to places where site-specific installations and interventions will appear in a few months.

The upcoming exhibition at the Gallery of Jaroslav Fragner will guide visitors through these locations through conceptual studies, competition projects, or student projects that have been or are currently being developed over the last few years. “Visitors can look forward to the presentation of the emerging Study for the Renovation of Vítkov Park (team of landscape architect Zdeněk Sendler), the Concept for Prague's Banks, and the results of the competition for the footbridge Holešovice Karlín (Institute of Planning and Development of the Capital City of Prague), visions for Rohanský Island (students of the FA CTU studio Klokočka – Fingerová collaborating with the MOBA studio), or student projects for Štvanice Island (Kolařík studio at Archip Prague), among many others,” states the festival founder Dan Merta.

The Gallery of Jaroslav Fragner, supported by the Ministry of Culture, other partners, and companies, has been organizing the LANDSCAPE FESTIVAL since 2013. It took place from 2014 to 2015 at the Žižkov Freight Station, which will also be part of the upcoming year. In 2016, it was held in Opava, last year it took place in Plzeň, and this year it returns to Prague.
