Prague - Prague 8 wants to improve public spaces in the Střížkov housing estate. It plans to reach out to local residents and discuss proposals for potential changes with them. Matěj Fichtner (ANO), the local mayor, said this to ČTK today. It is not yet certain when the final proposal for changes could be prepared, as well as the cost of the adjustments. Prague 8 is also preparing modifications to the public space near the Ládví metro station and around the Krakow cultural center.

The public spaces of the housing estate have not been renovated in the past. "We will reach out to residents and local property owners' associations to present them with proposals, to see if they would like them, and they will also be able to make their suggestions," Fichtner said.

All public spaces should undergo changes. "What exactly will change cannot be said yet; however, it involves an overall improvement of public spaces. It will also depend on the wishes of the locals," said the mayor. The costs of any adjustments will arise from the final proposal for changes.

Prague 8 wants to start the first phase of the reconstruction of the area around the Krakow shopping and cultural center this year. Barriers will be removed, a square with a park will be created, and up to 80 trees will be planted. The area around the C Ládví metro station will also undergo changes. A new pavement will be laid in the square, benches and bins will be added, as well as greenery. According to the plan, a marketplace is also to be created.
