Jevíčko (Svitavy) - The town hall in Jevíčko would like to build a tourist lookout tower near the town. It would stand on the nearby hill Kumperk. Although most of the costs would be covered by a grant, the plan does not yet have clear support in the council, said Mayor Roman Müller to ČTK.

"The idea for the lookout tower was approved six years ago for the region of Moravská Třebová and Jevíčko, but since then the council has changed twice," the mayor stated.
The money for the lookout tower could be mostly obtained from the so-called Local Action Group, which has set aside more than two million crowns for the construction. The town hall has already prepared a study confirming the suitability of the location.
"Some councilors see it as throwing away money. However, the project has a deeper idea. In the neighboring Velké Opatovice, there is a cartographic center where visitors already come to see a relief map of Moravia, and from there they could travel only four kilometers to Jevíčko, where they could see the landscape of Malá Haná in reality," added Müller.
The town could obtain up to 90 percent from the grant for the project. The council is expected to decide in January.
In the Pardubice Region, many lookout towers have been built in the last 12 years, and others have been renovated. Recently, for example, the observation tower on Suchý vrch in the Orlické Mountains has been restored, or the Pastýřka lookout tower has been built at a height of 516 meters at Pastvisko near Moravská Třebová. The original all-wood lookout tower Bára, designed by architect Martin Rajniš, stands near Chrudim.
