Jevíčko (Svitavy) - The town hall in Jevíčko is going to build a tourist lookout tower near the town after years of delays. It will be located on the nearby hill Kumperk. The town has already secured grants for the observation tower, said the deputy mayor Miroslav Šafář to ČTK. "We will now look for a contractor in a competition, and subsequently the council will decide on the construction," he stated.
The plan to build the lookout tower was approved seven years ago for the microregion of Moravská Třebová and Jevíčko. However, since then the council has changed twice and has not always been in favor of the idea.
Jevíčko will receive 1.8 million crowns from the State Agricultural Intervention Fund and another 300,000 from the microregion. Šafář estimates the construction costs to be around 2.5 million crowns, so the town would need to pay approximately 400,000 crowns from its budget.
In the Pardubice Region, many lookout towers have been established in recent years, and others have been renovated. The observation tower on Suchý vrch in the Orlické Mountains has been restored, and the Pastýřka lookout tower was built at 516 meters high Pastvisko near Moravská Třebová; several are also located around Proseč in the Chrudim area. The original all-wood lookout tower Bára, designed by architect Martin Rajniš, stands near Chrudim.
