<Ríčany u Prahy> is preparing to build a community center

Říčany (near Prague) - Říčany near Prague will build a community center on the site of the former cinema. Ten proposals were submitted to the architectural competition, from which the expert jury selected three and awarded a prize. The proposal by Jan Pačka and Igor Šimon from the Igloo Architects studio received the highest rating. However, a winner has not yet been decided; the authors will be invited to submit a price quote for the documentation. The criteria for selecting the winning proposal will be both the placement in the competition and the price for the project documentation, the city spokesperson Kateřina Lauerová informed ČTK today.

The center is to be built on the site of the former cinema at Komenského Square, which is in poor condition. It stopped showing films about ten years ago. It was up to the contestants to decide whether to partially utilize the building or propose its demolition. The subject of the competition was to develop an architectural proposal for the community center, including the modification of the outdoor areas on the site. The city aims to draw funding for the construction from sources such as the Integrated Regional Operational Program and also from the Operational Program for the Environment.

"People and the town hall have long sought ways to utilize the building of the former cinema. The idea of establishing a facility in the city center that would be used by local interest groups or organizations providing social services, for example, to seniors, youth, or people with disabilities, was embraced," said Mayor Vladimír Kořen (Quiet City).

Organizations will share rooms where they will have their work facilities. Larger multifunctional rooms will be designated for group activities, such as seminars, exercise classes, or performances by preschool children, and a large hall will also be available. The barrier-free building will also include a café, and parking spaces will be created in the basement.
