Hradec Králové - The councilors of Hradec Králové today once again did not discuss the approval of the conditions for the tender for the construction of a new football arena in Malšovice for half a billion crowns. The reason for the postponement is the clarification of the items in the bill of quantities of the project. Jindřich Vedlich, the deputy mayor for investments, told ČTK this. Vedlich wants to include the decision on the stadium in the June council meeting. It was originally considered that the councilors would discuss the tender conditions in April, with the next date being today. "I want to present the material when I am one hundred percent sure that everything is in order. We need to fine-tune some items in the bill of quantities," said Vedlich. He wants to avoid the risk that someone might challenge the tender due to a possible error in the documentation, which would lead to further delays. The city previously stated that it is imposing a penalty of around one million crowns on the design firm for the late delivery of the project documentation.
Vedlich will propose to the councilors the construction of a new main western stand and one side stand behind one of the goals. Other options could include the construction of only the western stand or the western stand with side stands behind both goals. Construction could begin this fall.
The new stadium, with a capacity of nearly 10,000 seated spectators, will rise on the site of the inadequate Všesportovní stadium from 1960. The main western stand will feature facilities for the club, players, fans, and journalists. The stadium is expected to meet the parameters for international matches of the highest category. The characteristic lighting of the playing field with four so-called “lollipops” will also be preserved at the new stadium, albeit in a modernized form. The stadium will house the second league club FC Hradec Králové.
Last autumn, the roof, seats, commentary booth, and concrete on the surface of the sand embankment disappeared from the western stand. The capacity of the stadium without the western stand dropped from 7,000 to 4,500 spectators.
