Hradec Králové

Hradec Králové - In Hradec Králové, the symbolic demolition of the outdated Malšovice Multifunctional Stadium began today, which is to be replaced by a modern arena costing more than half a billion crowns. Hradec's footballers and the public have been waiting for many years for a new stadium. The current stadium was built more than 50 years ago and no longer meets the necessary standards. The demolition was initiated by former legendary player of the Hradec football club, Pavel Černý, who was the first to sit in a small excavator and dig the bucket into the mound of the western stand.

The actual demolition of the stadium by a professional company will begin in the coming days and will concern the above-ground parts of the mounded western stand, for example, the roof, seats, and other components. The demolition, costing 2.89 million crowns excluding VAT, will be carried out by the consortium of firms Sovis CZ and Bauset CZ. "The demolition contract has been approved by the city authorities and its signing is being prepared, which should only be a formality," said Jindřich Vedlich (TOP 09), the deputy mayor, to ČTK. The demolition is expected to be completed by the end of this year.

The progress of the demolition work will be adjusted to the schedule of home matches of Hradec's second division footballers. Following today's home match of Hradec Králové against Příbram, the western stand will be closed. In the next phase of the demolition, which will be part of the contract for the construction of the new stadium, the actual mound of the western stand will also be removed.

So far, the city has obtained two of the three necessary building permits for the construction of the new stadium. The city hall has a permit for the stadium itself and also a permit for construction from the water authority. It is still missing a permit from the road authority for the connection of the arena and the traffic solution for the surrounding roads.

At the same time, the city is preparing the execution documentation, which will serve as the starting basis for the tender for the construction company for the stadium. The start of construction of the stadium is expected in 2018. It is planned to be the first phase of construction, which includes the construction of the new western stand for about 270 million crowns. Further phases of the construction will follow.

The new football arena is expected to have a capacity of nearly 10,000 seated spectators, while the current Multifunctional Stadium is designed for 7,000 spectators. The most prominent structure will be the new western stand, which will be built on the site of the current mounded stand. The characteristic lighting of the playing field with four so-called "lollipops" will also be preserved, although in a modernized form.
