Hradec Králové - The representatives of Hradec Králové will meet this afternoon to discuss the cancellation of the competition for the construction of a football arena for 400 million crowns. The cancellation of the tender is proposed by the new city leadership, which is formed by a coalition of the ANO movement, ODS, and Změny pro Hradec. In the previous electoral term, all three parties were in opposition.
The construction of the stadium is set to be the largest investment in the city in recent years. The stadium, prepared for about 15 years, is to be built on the site of the outdated multipurpose stadium from 1960.
The goal of the new city leadership is to build the stadium. However, continuing with the current tender would reportedly be associated with a number of risks. "We have serious doubts about how the documentation is processed and the competition announced, which could likely bring many complications to the city and the construction itself," said the Deputy Mayor for Investments Jiří Bláha (ODS).
The competition for the stadium was announced on October 31, the day after the inaugural meeting of the city council. Thus, the new city leadership had no opportunity to influence the competition in any way.
The current stadium competition is the second in line. The original tender announced in July was canceled by the representatives in September due to an administrator's error in the tender process. They also decided to announce a new competition.
