Teplice - The Railway Administration plans to repair the Art Nouveau building of the main train station in Teplice in 2022. The organization has now announced a public procurement for the contractor of the documentation for the reconstruction permit. This will also include project documentation for the construction work. This was reported today by Railway Administration spokesperson Nela Friebová.

The scope of work will involve the overall reconstruction of the monument-protected passenger station building. According to the spokesperson, the work will include the restoration of interiors at least in the scope of public areas. The reconstruction will be based on the future use of the entire building. There are also plans to secure parking spaces near the dispatch building.

The actual reconstruction of the architecturally unique building, which was previously the seat of the private Ústí-Teplice Railway, is planned from September 2022 to the end of the following year. The estimated total investment costs amount to 800 million crowns.

The maximum allowable bid price for the public contract for the documentation is 30.9 million crowns.

The building is in poor condition. In 2017, the railway infrastructure manager indicated 2019 as a realistic start date for the work. The architectural historical survey and the construction technical survey were completed in 2018.

The original Neo-Romanesque building dates back to 1858. The station gradually expanded with additional buildings, and at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries, it served not only transportation but also hosted balls in one of its halls.
