Slaný - The Slaný swimming pool is set to reopen to the public on August 1 after renovations. A waterslide and slide have already been installed, and the machinery room with the technologies is nearing completion. The opening is expected to have a thematic approach, with the specific style yet to be decided by the city management, said Lucie Krčková, spokesperson for the Slaný town hall, today.
The restoration of the pool began last year and cost around 130 million Czech crowns. The completion date has not been precisely determined in case complications arise. "So far, everything is going according to plan and there are no delays," Krčková stated.
Work on the terrain at the swimming pool is ongoing, after which approximately 3,000 square meters of turf will be laid. The modernized pool features new stainless steel swimming tubs, and a splash pad with a shade cloth will be available for children. A self-service kiosk for ticket sales is also planned, with tickets available for purchase online as well.
The swimming pool operated until 2020 with exceptions made by health inspectors, after which it had to close due to non-compliance with standards. The city council then repeatedly discussed several different repair options and explored the possibility of creating a swimming biotope. After studying this option, it was deemed unsuitable due to the uncertain water quality during prolonged high summer temperatures.
