Slaný - Next year, Slaný in the Kladno region will initiate a project for the transformation of Masaryk Square. The study, which has already been reviewed by experts, will soon be presented to the public. People will have the opportunity to express their opinions on the proposed design and whether the Marian Column should return to the square. The city hall is currently deciding whether to combine the public presentation with a town council meeting or to organize it separately. This was stated by the mayor of Slaný, Martin Hrabánek (ODS), to ČTK today.

The square's adjustments were proposed by architect Jaroslav Sýkora. For instance, the greenery and paving should be restored, and an additional water feature will be added; there is already a historic sandstone fountain in the square. The study also addresses the drainage of rainwater. Reservoirs are to be created where the water will flow and then be used for irrigation. The number of parking spaces will remain unchanged. "The total cost of the adjustments will stem from the project," the mayor stated. It will amount to at least millions of crowns. According to the mayor, the work will be divided into phases.

This year, the city will partially replace the public lighting in the square. The city hall has been focusing on the revitalization of the center for a long time. The pedestrian zone, known as Londa, has already been adjusted. Work will begin this year in Hanžburského Street; first, the utilities, including sewage, will be replaced, but the street will not be dug up for the winter as the work will be staged. After the utilities are replaced, new surfaces will be laid and lighting installed.
