Prague - The Národní třída metro station in Prague will open on June 27. The ceremonial commissioning after a two-year renovation will take place simultaneously with the completion of repairs to the tram track across Wenceslas Square. Jiří Štábl, spokesman for the Prague Public Transit Company (DPP), said this today. The original opening date for Národní třída was set for the beginning of July.

"Finishing and cleaning works are currently taking place at the station. The ceremonial opening will take place on June 27," said Štábl. According to him, trains are likely to start stopping at the station that afternoon. Trams will return to the repaired track between Jindřišská Tower and Lazarská Street around 00:30 on the night of June 27 to June 28.
Even after the opening of the Národní třída station, the exit from the metro will be partially restricted for several months due to the construction of the multifunctional building Quadrio, which is being built above the metro station. People will now exit at the corner of Spálená and Purkyňova streets. After the entire complex is completed, they will also have direct access from the metro to the building. The appearance of the station will remain unchanged compared to the past, and it will continue to have a yellow color.
Due to the closure of the metro in the past, primarily local residents protested, making the renovation a political issue. The station was one of the most used.
Quadrium is being built by CPI Group, which purchased it some time ago from Copa Centrum Národní. The costs are expected to amount to 3.3 billion Czech crowns. The building will have four underground and eight above-ground floors. It will consist of a total of six buildings, five office towers, and a standalone residential building. It will include offices, retail spaces, and luxury apartments.
The transit company has also been repairing the tram track on Jindřišská, Vodičkova, and Lazarská streets since the end of April. As a result of the reconstruction, trams do not operate across Wenceslas Square.
