Litovel – The Office for the Representation of the State in Property Matters (ÚZSVM) has prepared an auction for Socha Villa in the center of Litovel in the Olomouc region at the end of June. The starting price of the property was set at six million crowns. The house was built by the first Czech mayor of Litovel, Václav Socha, at the beginning of the 20th century. At the entrance to the villa, the original Renaissance portal of the town hall from 1572 was installed. After the Second World War, the building was used by the Communist Party and the police.
The electronic auction for Socha Villa will commence on Monday, June 26, at 10:00 AM and conclude on Tuesday, June 27, at 10:00 AM. Interested parties must submit a deposit of 600,000 crowns in advance. The ÚZSVM documentation pointed out that the three-story villa building is in poor technical condition and the new owner will need to invest in a complete renovation, including all internal installations.
The architectural elements at the entrance to the villa were previously part of museum collections. Above the balcony, three battlements from the city walls are bricked up, and on the wall is a stone Swedish ball. Above the portal is a plaque with the city coat of arms depicting two fish. The plaque was originally part of the portal of the noble house in the Litovel square, and the engraved year 1684 refers to the time of the house's renovation. On both sides of the entrance, there are bricked-up sculptures from museum collections.
Until 1919, museum collections were housed in Socha Villa, as the first Czech mayor of Litovel was one of the founders of the local museum. In the following years, the municipal library was located in the building, and after the Second World War, it served as the National Security Corps, the secretariat of the Communist Party, and from 1992, the police. In recent years, the villa has been unused and has deteriorated.
