Chýně (near Prague) - The construction of a new school in Chýně near Prague for 140 million crowns may begin in June if a grant is awarded. The municipality is currently preparing documents for the building permit. In addition to approximately twenty classrooms, the school will have a cafeteria, a kitchen, and two gymnasiums. This information was provided to ČTK by the mayor of Chýně, Anna Chvojková. The school will accommodate up to 570 students.
The municipal leadership announced an architectural competition for the design of the school. Over 60 proposals were submitted, with the winning design prepared by a French team. The project for the school is already prepared, and Chýně has applied for a grant from the Ministry of Finance. "The municipality has been promised an amount covering 70 percent of the expenses for the construction part of the project," said the mayor.
Chýně is one of the rapidly developing municipalities around Prague, where the capacity of schools often fails to meet demand. It also has one of the lowest average ages in the country at 32.6 years, with about 50 children born there each year, and the places in schools are insufficient.
A swimming pool could also be part of the school in the future. Outside of school hours, when it would be used for physical education classes, it should also be accessible to the public. However, this plan is not part of the currently prepared construction.
