Chýně (near Prague) - Chýně near Prague is preparing to build a school for 140 million crowns. It should have a capacity of 400 students and is expected to be completed by autumn 2017. The reason for building a new school is the rapid development of the municipality in recent years. It has one of the lowest average ages in the country, at 32.6 years. This is also the reason why about 50 children are born there each year, and there are not enough places in the school, said Mayor Anna Chvojková on the project's website. The city has now announced an international architectural competition for the project, which should allow for greater public involvement in its appearance and function.

The new school is also expected to function as a local social, cultural, educational, and sports center. It will offer a range of clubs and activities for children so that parents do not have to transport them to various programs. "I look forward to the time when we will be waiting, for example, for their clubs to finish, and the school will have facilities for parents," said the mayor.
The organizer of the architectural competition is the Center for Central European Architecture (CCEA). In selecting the design, considerations will also include the energy and economic demands of operation and the comfort of students. "We appreciate that the municipality of Chýně has chosen the path of community work and an architectural competition, which in our country is still looking for an ideal connection. Phase 0 is being prepared in Chýně responsibly and with active public participation," said Igor Kovačević from CCEA.
In the future, the school's facilities could also include a swimming pool and additional services. However, this part of the project is not included in the allocated budget. According to the mayor, the pool would be used by children during physical education classes and would be accessible to the public in the evenings.
