Ústí nad Labem - A working group made up of representatives from the Ministry of Justice and the Ústí nad Labem Regional Court is set to prepare the construction of a judicial palace in Ústí nad Labem. Justice Minister Helena Válková (ANO) told ČTK this. However, she did not specify the construction timeline or the estimated cost of the palace. The new judicial palace is to be built in the Bukov district. The current courthouse has been affected by floods several times and its technical condition is also not adequate. The construction of a new judicial complex for the Ústí court and the public prosecutor's office has been discussed since 2002. According to the court president Luboš Dörfl, the current building does not meet the needs of the court. "Its limits have been exceeded for many years, the working conditions here are not ideal," Dörfl told ČTK. The new working group is supposed to prepare the construction of the palace, according to Válková. However, the minister does not wish to estimate when the palace might be built. "We would like to have the investment proposal completed within weeks. At the same time, work is underway on the timeline," Válková explained. Due to a lack of space, the Regional Public Prosecutor's Office has already left the building of the regional court. For now, it is renting office space in a commercial building in the city center for over five million crowns a year. In October 2013, President Miloš Zeman laid the cornerstone for the non-existent palace together with Válková's predecessor Marie Benešová (ČSSD). At that time, the cost of constructing the palace was estimated at 800 million crowns. The completion date was estimated for 2017.
