Šternberk (Olomoucko) - One year earlier, the "facade regulation" will end in Šternberk, which the city supported the repairs of private owners' houses in the municipal heritage zone. Mayor Jaromír Sedlák told ČTK that the earlier termination has two reasons: financial demands and significant improvement in the condition of the properties. "By the end of November, the last applicants must submit their accounts; then the regulation will end," confirmed Sedlák.
In two years, the city allocated over ten million crowns to property owners for repairs. The non-repayable financial support included not only the repair of external plaster but also the replacement of windows and doors and roofing elements. "About 90 percent of the houses in the city center are now repaired," noted Sedlák.
Last year, the Šternberk city hall satisfied 63 applicants, this year 40. Contributions were provided for up to three-quarters of eligible costs, but a maximum of 100,000 crowns per applicant.
"From next year, owners of historical properties can use loans from the Housing Development Fund. Instead of a four percent interest rate, they can count on a two percent interest rate," concluded Sedlák. The city operates annually with 320 million, and for investments, it could have 45 to 70 million crowns in the following year.
Similarly, Olomouc also contributes to owners of historically valuable buildings for their repairs and maintenance. This year, it allocated 1.1 million, with 400,000 crowns of this amount being a state grant.
