The Central Bohemian Region will announce an architectural competition for the gymnasium building in Černošice

Prague – The Central Bohemian Region will announce an architectural competition for the design of a high school building in Černošice, decided the regional councilors today. It is to be completed no later than 2028. It will have a maximum capacity of 360 students and will feature twelve core classes, informed ČTK Josef Holek from the regional office.

In the district of Prague-West, the Central Bohemian Region, which is the founder of secondary schools, has one high school, located in Hostivice. "Although an extension is being built on the building, allowing us to accept thirty more students each year, it still cannot meet the needs of this area. Therefore, we have decided to build a new regional secondary school from scratch, which has no parallel in the modern history of the region," stated Councilor for Education Milan Vácha (STAN).

The councilors today approved the proposal to announce a two-phase open architectural competition, including competition conditions and requirements, and the appointment of an evaluation committee. Besides architects, representatives of the Central Bohemian Region and the city of Černošice, which is donating land for the construction, will also be involved. Costs have not yet been determined; the region will know the estimate after the architectural study is commissioned.

The new high school building, which will be located on a site near Radotínská Street, should be as multifunctional and sustainable as possible. "We wish for a modern educational institution to be created that allows for the most current forms of teaching. A gymnasium will also be part of it," Vácha added.

The Central Bohemian Region is gradually increasing the capacity of high schools and lyceums, which are in high demand, particularly around Prague. For example, a campus with a secondary school and a building for the second stage of primary school is set to be established in Roztoky near Prague.
