Brandýs nad Labem-Stará Boleslav - A joint school for 1080 children in Stará Boleslav could start being built next year, pending the issuance of a building permit. Financing will be key; the Voluntary Association of Municipalities Joint School Stará Boleslav will seek a subsidy from the Ministry of Education's Ring III program, which is expected to be announced next year. With the number of involved municipalities, it will likely be the largest school; the association includes 14 municipalities, said the chairman of the association, Robert Pecha, to ČTK.
"The building process is underway, and in the coming weeks, a building permit could be issued; financing will be crucial, and if everything goes as expected, we should be part of the Ring III program, which is set to be announced next spring," Pecha said. According to him, the association could start looking for a contractor in advance and begin construction in 2026, with the school potentially opening within two years, by 2028.
The school, which will be located on a three-hectare site between Třebízského and Lhotecká streets, is being designed according to the proposal from Chybik+Kristof Associated Architects. Four classes are planned for each grade. According to Pecha, the school is unique both in the number of involved municipalities and the size of the area. "The association addresses one comprehensive area; all students from the municipalities in the association currently attend schools in Brandýs nad Labem-Stará Boleslav. We are building a school for the same area that will resolve overcrowding in the town," Pecha added. Each municipality in the association is guaranteed a number of places for its children and will also contribute relatively to the costs.
According to Pecha, the ministry wants to avoid issues in the third part of the Ring program, such as projects that do not yet have building permits. "With Ring II, there were problems with accessing funds that were blocked but not utilized; it's understandable that the ministry now wants to ensure that constructions start to be realized soon after the announcement," Pecha believes. It is still unclear what the support amount will be for building a place for one student; in the Ring II program, it was 1.1 million crowns.
Other joint schools are also in preparation in the Central Bohemian Region; for example, the first part of a joint school in Český Brod is set to begin construction. This year, the construction of the Joint Primary School Povýmolí in Úvaly near Prague could also commence.
