Třebíč – Třebíč will again ask the National Sports Agency for a forty-million grant for the modernization of the ice rink. Whether the application was successful, should be revealed in November. In the same month, the regional council may also decide on support for the investment of about 350 million crowns. This was said today by the mayor of Třebíč, Pavel Pacal (For Třebíč), who is also a regional councilor.
Třebíč already applied for grants from the National Sports Agency in the spring of this year, but according to Pacal, the National Sports Agency canceled the call and replaced it with a new one under different conditions. One of the new conditions is the verification of the council's decision to ensure co-financing of the investment. The Třebíč councilors will discuss this on September 16.
Třebíč is requesting 150 million crowns from the Vysočina region for the repair of the stadium. "I expect that it will be at the meeting (of the regional council) in November or December," Pacal said.
The modernization of the ice rink aims to primarily improve its facilities. The plan includes expanding the rear part to create locker rooms and sanitary facilities, which, according to previous statements by the mayor, are already inadequate. The auditorium and cooling technology will also be upgraded. The outdated ammonia system will be replaced with an ecological variant.
The Třebíč ice rink began construction in 1956 and was completed in 1959. Twelve years later, it underwent its first major reconstruction, and in 1977 it was covered. However, the roof collapsed after a few days. Two people died under it. The stadium reopened to the public in 1980. Since 1998, it has been owned by the city. The last major reconstruction of the stadium was in 2000, where the ice surface, cooling system, and machinery were repaired.
