Plzeň - The eighth year of the Teendesign art competition, announced by the Plzeň Institute of Art and Design (ÚUD) of the West Bohemian University, aims to help find new talents not only in artistic secondary schools. The competition can help them take the first step towards future study at a university of fine arts, said Lenka Kodýtková from ÚUD to ČTK.
This year's edition has undergone several changes - primarily in the timing. Last year, Teendesign took place in the autumn, while this year it will be held in the spring. High school students from the Czech Republic and abroad can submit their designs until the end of June. The number of categories has also increased. Last year there were six categories, and this year there are 16. According to Kodýtková, they better correspond to the specializations of ÚUD. The common theme for all categories this year is Black and White. "We are not looking for participants to send us a visually perfect work, but to approach the theme in an original way, with an idea, with imagination, and to demonstrate the qualities we seek in candidates for study at ÚUD," she stated.
Interested parties can choose from categories such as illustration, comics, book and paper modeling, graphic design, graphics, painting, animation and interactive creation, multimedia, drawing, photography, sculpture, ceramics, design and design of metal, jewelry, clothing, or footwear and fashion accessories. Last year, students submitted a total of 217 competition entries in six categories.
The competition will be evaluated in the autumn. The winner will be awarded a course at the ArtCamp summer art school for free. Details about the competition can be found on the website www.uud.zcu.cz.
