Brno - More offices are being built in Brno. The demand for them has increased again this year. A modern administrative center is being created, for example, in one of the former high-rise buildings of Chepos. It will cost 200 million crowns, ČTK learned from companies and industry experts.

According to analyst Jiří Šimara from Cyrrus, the demand for offices in Brno has increased again this year. The vacancy rate has thus decreased from 19.6% to the current 16.5%.

"A large number of office buildings are currently under construction, especially buildings O and P in the Slatina area or the multifunctional Dorn building in the city center. I do not expect a situation similar to what we are now observing with apartments, where demand exceeds supply," Šimara stated.

One of the largest current investments is the reconstruction of one of the three high-rise buildings of the former Chepos on Šumavská Street. By September 2016, it is set to transform into a modern administrative center. Its purpose will remain unchanged. "The goal of the reconstruction is to create office spaces again with a focus on quality and a modern concept that belongs to today's era," wrote Radovan Šenkyřík from ŠUMAVSKÁ tower s.r.o. to ČTK.

The reconstruction of the 1968 building will cost 200 million crowns. The building is 65 meters tall and has 19 floors. Several cranes are working on site, helping workers to clear the interiors. The entire construction is exposed as a skeleton.

A part of the former Rozmarýn parking garage is now being converted into offices. Parking will remain only in the underground part and in about half of the above-ground part of the building. For the owner, Imos facility, the parking itself was not profitable. Meanwhile, several parking garages have been built around the center of Brno, and more are under construction.
