Havířov - Havířov in the Karviná region has renovated another part of the football stadium in Prostřední Suchá. Footballers can now make use of the new social facilities, which include a restaurant and a fully equipped kitchen. The modernization also included window replacement and repairs to the building's technical equipment, said the spokesperson for the city hall, Jana Dybová, today.

The stadium has been under renovation since last October, but due to unfavorable weather, the 3.5 million koruna renovation had to be paused at the turn of the year; it has now been successfully completed. "In completely new facilities, the club can hold general meetings. Parents of children who come here for training can wait for their children in a pleasant environment," said Mayor Jana Feberová (ČSSD).

The Administration of Sports and Recreational Facilities in Havířov took over the football complex in November 2008. It is being gradually repaired to be fully operational, allowing for football matches and training sessions for Havířov footballers. Athletes now have access to changing rooms, showers, and sanitary facilities.

"We have two grass pitches with integrated irrigation systems. The complex also includes a training pitch with artificial surface managed by the football club. The Administration of Sports and Recreational Facilities already manages both stands," said Miroslav Polak, the operations manager of the Municipal Football Stadium. The basement of the second stand serves as a rehearsal space for music groups. The facility also includes a table tennis room for the public and accommodations for athletes above it, he added.

Dybová noted that besides footballers, hockey players can also look forward to improved facilities. The city plans to renovate the changing rooms of the ice rink near the bus station later this year. "The construction works will include new water, sewage, electrical, air conditioning, and central heating systems," said the spokesperson.

The renovation is divided into two parts. The southwest part of the changing rooms will be renovated separately, which will create a new changing room for the public, a changing room for figure skaters, a treatment room, a technical room, and a corridor for the arrival of the snow groomer. In the southeast part of the changing rooms, facilities for youth hockey and guest changing rooms will be constructed. The city expects the renovation to cost 15 million koruna, and it could begin in May.
