Kolín - In Kolín, the renovation of the gymnasium facade has begun. The city will pay approximately 11.5 million crowns for it, and it will be completed by the end of the year. The construction company will start with preparatory work, and the actual renovation will likely begin in July, said the deputy mayor Michael Kašpar (Change for Kolín).
According to Kašpar, the gymnasium building is not a protected monument but is an architecturally very valuable structure. Because the building is not a protected monument and is not in a preservation zone, the costs will be paid from the city's budget, as it is not possible to use a subsidy.
Not all of the plaster will be repaired, only the most damaged parts. The construction company, according to Kašpar, will put new plaster on 20 to 30 percent of the area. The plaster that does not need repair will be cleaned with silica sand under high pressure.
In addition to the facade renovation, there are also plans to renovate the old dangerous playground near the gymnasium. Kolín has approximately 1.6 million crowns allocated for its renovation, and the exact start date of the work is not yet known. The playground will have a new surface and will accommodate more sports than before. The fencing will also be expanded; after the renovation, the fence will be on all sides, as it was previously missing on one side.
