Židlochovice – On Sunday, September 18th at 10:30, the first of fourteen Stations of the Cross in Židlochovice will be unveiled and blessed. This Stations of the Cross, created by Marek Jan Štěpán, is designed to speak to the contemporary time and person, thus functioning as abstractly symbolic and poetic. Jesus is depicted here as the most perfect shape – that is, a sphere. This also signifies his identification with us, our home – the sphere of Earth. The circle has been regarded since ancient times as a symbol of the divine. The composition also has a Sisyphean dimension of burden and resurrection.

This station is located near the rectory (it is the second in the sequence of the Stations of the Cross - Jesus accepts the cross). It is made of concrete and steel. The initiative was launched by the town of Židlochovice in collaboration with the rectory. The realization was carried out by Břetislav Eichler. The implementation of the other stations is anticipated in the coming years through sponsorship donations and collections.
