Prague - Trains will return to the renovated Negrelli Viaduct in Prague on the very first day of its opening, namely June 1st. Lines from Prague to Kladno and Kralupy nad Vltavou will operate on it. Along with this, the schedules for these connections will also change. The journey to the center of Prague will thus be shortened by about seven minutes. Today, this was reported by Czech Railways. The repair of the heritage-protected viaduct lasted almost three years.

The S4 lines from Prague to Kralupy nad Vltavou and Ústí nad Labem, as well as the passenger and fast lines S5 and R45 from Prague to Kladno, will return to their original routes. "Passengers from Kralupy will thus arrive in the center of Prague at Masarykovo nádraží by regional train up to seven minutes earlier thanks to the shorter route, but primarily these connections will avoid the heavily trafficked intersection of lines in the Balabenka area. Transport should thus be smoother and more reliable. The personal and fast trains on lines S5 and R45 from Kladno will also head directly to the center without transferring," said Jakub Goliáš, the commercial director of the CD Regional Sales Center for Prague and the Central Bohemian Region.

Trains on the route to Kralupy nad Vltavou will, just like in the past, run from Podbab to the original stop Prague-Holešovice zastávka, avoiding the new Holešovice station. Fast trains from Děčín and Ústí nad Labem (line R20) will continue to head to Prague Main Station.

For the routes to Kladno, the stop Prague-Bubny Vltavská will be canceled. Trains will again stop several hundred meters further at the original station Prague-Bubny and will continue directly to the center via the Negrelli Viaduct to Masarykovo nádraží.

The reconstruction of the historic Negrelli Viaduct began three years ago. The total investment costs for the repair eventually amounted to 1.9 billion crowns. According to the Railway Administration, the repair will contribute to increased traffic flow and allow for an increase in the number of trains dispatched. After opening, the viaduct will be the first completed section of the railway to the airport.

The Negrelli Viaduct is the first Prague railway bridge over the Vltava River and the second oldest standing bridge in Prague. It connects Masarykovo nádraží across Štvanice Island with Bubny. The 1100-meter-long structure, which was put into operation in early June 1850, is heritage protected. It is named after its builder Alois Negrelli.
