Vsetín - The Vsetín town hall has begun repairing the façade of the People’s House in the city center. The local theater will also receive new equipment. Everything should be finished by June next year, after which work will begin around the People’s House, including the construction of a parking lot, fencing, and installation of public lighting, said the town hall spokesperson Adéla Kousalová today.
The construction modifications of the People’s House will cost 14.5 million crowns excluding VAT. The town hall received a grant of about three million crowns from the State Environmental Fund. The plans include insulation of the building, façade improvements, and replacement of windows and doors, 95 percent of which will be wooden. "In this regard, we had to accommodate heritage protectors, as the People’s House is located in the protective zone of a building monument - the functionalist building of the Commercial Bank - and we had to maintain the original appearance and window layout. The original gray color will also be kept for the façade," stated Mayor Jiří Růžička (KDU-ČSL). The roof will also be repaired, and the ceilings on the top floor of the building will be insulated. "During the façade repair, pedestrian movement on the sidewalk in front of the People’s House will be partially restricted. We therefore ask pedestrians to exercise increased caution here," said the mayor. Access to the businesses located in the People’s House will remain unchanged. The building also houses a music club and a casino.
The city also wants to reconstruct the stage technology in the theater hall, which is expected to cost about two million crowns. "Next year, the theater is also set to undergo an electrical installation renovation and new interior equipment including seating for the audience," Kousalová said.
