Vysoké Mýto (Orlickoústecko) - Vysoké Mýto will connect its future visual presentation with a new city logo. It emerged from a public competition, with the winning design submitted by Dan Friedlaender, a student from FAMU and a graduate of a secondary graphic school, among 29 competitors including professionals. The logo's shape is inspired by the layout of the Vysoké Mýto square, said Deputy Mayor František Jiraský to reporters. "The committee appreciated mainly the originality, dynamism, and the fact that it is directly related to the city of Vysoké Mýto. Last but not least, it is also unique; no other city has a similar logo, which cannot be said about other designs that more or less resembled logos of companies, cities, or regions," Jiraský stated. The new logo is based on the shape of the Vysoké Mýto square, which is the largest square in the Czech Republic. At the corners of the central square of the logo, there are smaller squares, similarly defining it like the street network around the city center. The dynamism of the logo is enhanced by its slight tilt, just as the square is tilted in relation to the cardinal directions. The color scheme utilizes green, silver, and white, with red as an additional color. A total of 67 designs were submitted in the competition, and the winner will receive 50,000 crowns for their design. The city hall has allocated another 200,000 crowns for the development of a comprehensive graphic manual of the unified visual style of the city. The logo and its variants will appear on official letters, envelopes, business cards, and promotional items, but the city will mainly use it for internet presentation and on the information system for tourists in the city. It is already on the city's website www.vysoke-myto.cz. Vysoké Mýto has so far used the heraldic city emblem as the symbol of the city. It will not be discarded; the city hall will keep it for ceremonial and official occasions. Similarly, the city flag will not be modernized.
