Prague – The city company Výstaviště Praha managing the Bubeneč exhibition grounds will receive approximately 6.76 million crowns from the city for additional work on the renovation of the Bohemia restaurant. The increase in the amount was necessitated by changes in the repair procedures caused by newly discovered problems, such as issues with the underground structures, extensive masonry repairs, or additional requirements from conservationists. This emerges from a document that was approved by the Prague councilors today. Thus, the renovation of the restaurant will amount to about 110.8 million crowns after today's increase. The owner of the exhibition grounds is the capital city, which is gradually repairing it.

The work procedures had to be adjusted after workers discovered the true condition of the building's underground structures, which was worse than expected. Specialists had to implement waterproofing, address insufficient foundation depth, and reinforce the masonry.

At the same time, conservationists raised additional requirements after the work began, demanding a different roofing material than originally intended. This request subsequently necessitated changes to the roof structure, the substrate under the roofing material, and also impacted the plumbing and masonry elements, as well as the architectural features of the façade. The project for the construction of the food service operation was also revised, as the original project was over 15 years old.

The city company Výstaviště Praha has leased the grounds from the capital city and pays rent to it. The repairs on the grounds are paid for by the municipality. Křižík's pavilions and the Spirála Theatre are being renovated at the exhibition grounds, with completion of repairs expected by the end of this year. The restoration of the burned-out wing of the Industrial Palace has also begun, which will take approximately another three years.
