Brno - The construction of a primary and nursery school Nová Zbrojovka in Brno for 860 children could begin around mid-2027. City councilors at their last meeting selected a company that will prepare project documentation for the schools, multifunctional building, and outdoor surroundings for 55.5 million crowns. This was announced in a press release by the mayor's deputy, René Černý (ANO). The establishment of the school, which is estimated to cost around 900 million crowns, is related to the development of the area. The developer CPI is preparing the construction of many residential buildings and administrative facilities in Nová Zbrojovka. The first two residential buildings are expected to be completed by the end of 2026.
The project documentation will be prepared by SOA architects, who will also provide copyright supervision. The new primary school will be created in a building with four above-ground and one underground floor. It will accommodate up to 810 children in 27 classrooms. "In addition to classrooms, we plan to include a dining hall, library, and administrative spaces. The underground part will serve as technical facilities or storage," Černý stated.
The neighboring building is to include two gymnasiums alongside the nursery school, which will have two classes for 50 children. "An outdoor sports facility will also be built on the roof of this building, and a garden will enhance the surroundings. As for the multifunctional building from the next phase of the project, it could serve as office space or a private educational institution," the deputy added. All project preparations are expected to be completed by the end of 2026.
The city plans further expansion of preschool capacities. A new nursery school for 75 children is set to be built on Šámalova Street in Židenice, and a nursery for 48 children will be established in the Holásky neighborhood of Tuřany. The capacity of the nursery at Přemyslové Square in Slatina should also increase by about 50 schoolchildren, where the current single-story building will be replaced by a new one with four classrooms. If everything goes according to plan, the constructions should be completed in 2026.
