Olomouc - The Empire-style castle in Čechy pod Kosířem in the Prostějov area, which the state offered for transfer, has not attracted interest from the municipality, the cities of Olomouc and Prostějov, nor from the Olomouc Region. On the other hand, several private entities have shown interest. However, the municipality does not like the idea that the landmark could end up in private hands. Mayor Zdeněk Mader has therefore contacted the regional office to reconsider the issue, as reported today by the Prostějovský deník. "I and the overwhelming majority of local people believe that this beautiful castle complex should not be sold into private hands. Nowhere is it written that it would not then be closed and inaccessible to the public,” said Mader. The municipality, which is responsible for the castle complex based on an agreement, has taken the initiative into its own hands. It places the greatest hope in the regional office, which rejected the landmark as the very last at the December council meeting. "On January 2, I sent a letter to the governor requesting a personal meeting,” said the mayor. He believes that the council will reconsider its opinion. The state has declared the castle unnecessary from its perspective and does not want to take care of it any longer. Last August, it therefore offered it, along with the adjacent park, for free transfer to several institutions. "We contacted state organizational units at both the district and national level, that is, at the ministerial level. When none of them showed interest, we turned to the municipality of Čechy pod Kosířem, the city of Prostějov, the city of Olomouc, and the Olomouc Regional Office. None of the entities wanted to transfer the complex to their ownership. We were quite surprised,” said Lenka Kolaříková, director of the Territorial Office of the Office for Representation of the State in Property Affairs in Brno. On the other hand, according to her, several private individuals have shown interest in purchasing the castle without prior notice. "We are currently considering the next steps. I will present solutions to the expert commission, which will meet in about a month and a half in Prague. It is possible that the state will keep the castle or offer it for purchase in a tender. Private interested parties could also participate, as the law does not exclude that,” Kolaříková stated, adding that the transfer of the historical building to the private sector would ultimately have to be approved by the Ministry of Culture. Another cultural monument in the Prostějov area, which the Office for Representation of the State in Property Affairs has offered for transfer, is the chapel in Skřípov. "The local municipality has requested its transfer. It can be expected that no other interested party will come forward,” said Kolaříková.
