Benešov - The castle in Načeradci in the Benešov region, which the state offers for sale, did not find a buyer even in its third auction. No one showed interest in the property, the spokesperson for the Office for the Representation of the State in Property Affairs, Radek Ležatka, informed ČTK today. Another auction is planned after the New Year.
"There were no bids submitted in today's round of the public auction for the castle in Načeradci. Another round of bidding will take place in January 2019," said Ležatka.
The previous two auctions had a similar outcome. The state originally demanded at least 22 million crowns for the castle. In further attempts to sell, the price was lowered to 19.8 million and finally to 18.9 million crowns.
The state took ownership of the castle last year from the Sedlec-Prčice children's home as unnecessary property. No state institution showed interest in it, so it is being offered for sale. The two-story building with a simple facade and the adjacent English park are a cultural heritage site and are located in the center of the town. The park is adjacent to an orchard and a former vegetable garden and horticulture with preserved greenhouses and a staff house, where the interiors have been partially reconstructed.
Although it has not been used since 2015, the castle is still relatively well-maintained, according to Ležatka. In 1987, craftsmen repaired the roof, interior spaces, utility networks, and facade. In 2000, the boiler room, heating, and air technology were renovated.
The castle was built in 1734 by František Josef of Starhemberg. Until the end of the 1970s, the complex served as a children's home, then it housed a boarding school and later a correctional facility.
