Zlín – The Regional Gallery of Fine Arts in Zlín will open a new permanent exhibition titled "+ - Zlín" next week, which will showcase fine arts, architecture, and design. It will be accessible to the public starting October 31, the gallery spokesperson Zuzana Bílá informed ČTK today. This will be the first new exhibition in the gallery in more than ten years. The original exhibition "Space Zlín | Orders of Vision" was last visible to the public last November, after which preparations for the new exhibition began.
The exhibition will present the gallery's collection and approximately three hundred exhibits. "The central theme is the civilizational conflict that manifests in the development of Zlín. On one side, there is a significant imprint of modernization and industrial development left by the Baťa company, while on the other side is a traditional and sentimental view associated with nature and the countryside," said gallery director Václav Mílek.
The exhibition includes interactive elements, such as a mobile application. "It will allow visitors to experience the works in a new way through audio, film, and animated elements or a virtual tour," Mílek added.
Among the exhibited items are paintings by renowned artists such as Bohumil Kubišta, Josef Čapek, Jindřich Štýrský, and Toyen, as well as works by lesser-known creators. The architecture section presents models of iconic buildings in Zlín. The industrial design section focuses on Vincenc Makovský, Zdeněk Kovář, and František Crhák, and their influence on the development of design. The spatial solution of the exhibition was created by visual artist, exhibition architect, and curator Zbyněk Baladrán.
