Jan de Vylder is an architect and professor who combines both of his professions into one. He serves as a professor at ETH Zurich, where under the slogan Re-Practice and Prac-Teach he connects practice with teaching. He was awarded the Silver Lion at the Biennale of Architecture for the project of the pavilion of the Psychiatric Clinic Caritas in Melle (2017). Among the exceptional projects of the studio based in Ghent, Belgium, is the production studio for the Ghent theater and dance company Les Ballets C de la B & Lod. The building stands out primarily for its exposed materials and revealed elementary structure, which gives the whole a purely technical and functional appearance; the project was nominated for the Mies van der Rohe Award 2010. The studio's work is exhibited around the world (Milan, Istanbul, Brussels, New York, London, etc.).
