The Flemish studio ROTOR is characterized by an unconventional approach to working with context, materials, and recycling. The office focuses on researching the use of waste or elements from buildings or demolitions, from which they develop new materials and elements. In Brussels, they also run a store where they sell artifacts from buildings of various ages that they manage to acquire and that would otherwise end up in a landfill. You can buy everything from period sinks to cabinets and tables; the store is complemented by a showroom of new materials that ROTOR is developing. In addition, they are also interested in revitalizing post-war architecture, not only the buildings as a whole but also individual elements. For their unconventional activities in architecture, they have received numerous international awards.
