After the summer break, the Centre for Architecture and Urban Planning (CAMP) in Prague is resuming its lecture series featuring interesting personalities from the world of architecture called Urban Talks. In September, several prominent architects will present as part of this series. On September 9, Martin Arfalk from the Swedish studio Mandaworks, which implements its urban plans worldwide, will give a talk. The famous architect Winy Maas from the Rotterdam studio MVRDV will speak at CAMP on September 13 and present the planned project of the healthcare and accommodation facility Relax Residence in Prague 5. On the last day of September, British architecture popularizer Peter Murray will meet with the public, along with architects from Foster and Partners and Zaha Hadid Architects. Admission to all lectures is free.
The progressive studio Mandaworks, founded in Stockholm in 2010, boasts an impressive portfolio of public space projects, landscape architecture, and urban studies from Sweden and abroad. They have completed works in Hong Kong, Toronto, and Helsinki, and ranked second in the competition for the new design of Victory Square in Dejvice with their proposal. Architect Martin Arfalk will talk about their work on September 9, 2019, at 19:00 at CAMP.
Renowned architect Winy Maas co-founded the Rotterdam studio MVRDV in 1993, which is behind the realization of buildings such as the headquarters of the Norwegian bank DNB, the famous market hall in Rotterdam, and the futuristic Tianjin Binhai Library in China. He will visit the capital due to the upcoming project of the healthcare and accommodation facility Relax Residence, which is set to be built on the site of the former hospital complex SANOPZ on Na Cihlářce Street in Prague 5. The Relax Residence complex will include 39 apartments, a new clinic and rehabilitation center, a pharmacy, underground garages, as well as a café with a summer terrace. He will begin his lecture at CAMP by describing the Prague project, which will take place on September 13, 2019, at 16:00 in collaboration with KKCG.
Peter Murray, who will lecture at CAMP on September 30, 2019, at 19:30, studied architecture in Bristol and London, but has devoted his entire life to writing about architecture and design rather than practicing. He founded the magazine Blueprint, the London Festival of Architecture, now a significant annual event in the cultural life of the British capital, and also the gallery New London Architecture, which served to some extent as a precursor to CAMP. After his lecture on the development of London, there will be a discussion with architects from Foster and Partners and Zaha Hadid Architects.
Free tickets for all Urban Talks lectures must be reserved through the GoOut network. Live broadcasts of all events can be followed on the CAMP Facebook page or later on the architecture center's YouTube channel.
The autumn Urban Talks lectures are held in collaboration with the ARCHIP university, KKCG, the British Embassy in Prague, and the magazine Architekt+.
