Public expert debate on the given topic. Note that the event takes place at the Puppet Theater.

Ostrava has become one of the cities in the last twenty years that carry out most public constructions without architectural competitions. The result is, in many cases, poorly executed or problematic buildings and renovations. Not only in the world but also in much smaller towns in our region, city leadership organizes architectural competitions and successfully realizes them afterward. The debate will also discuss the controversial plan of the regional leadership to build a new headquarters for the Moravian-Silesian Scientific Library without an architectural competition on private land owned by Vítkovice. According to experts, such a move could be the final nail in the coffin of the struggling center of Ostrava.

Guests of the debate:
Petra Bernfeldová, mayor of the Municipal District MOAP
Ludvík Grym, architect, expert on the issue of architectural competitions
Tomáš Macura, mayor of the city of Ostrava
Jan Šépka, architect, author of the book How to Make a City
Milena Vitoulová, architect, long-time regional representative of the Czech Chamber of Architects
Representative of the Moravian-Silesian Region leadership - name to be specified
The debate is moderated by Martin Tomášek from the University of Ostrava.

RESERVATION OF SEATS IS POSSIBLE at the Puppet Theater at tel.: 596 100 500. It takes place as part of the debate and lecture cycle "WHAT NEXT, OSTRAVA?", which addresses not only the issue of the future development of the city of Ostrava. The cycle is held under the auspices of the mayor of the city of Ostrava, Tomáš Macura.
