She will present the professional trajectory and works of Milada Petřičíková-Pavlíková - the first female architect to graduate from the gates of Prague's ČVUT. She will also discuss further generations of female architects, their professional placement in the domestic architectural scene, and the reception of their work.
Ing. arch. Mgr. et Mgr. Klára Brůhová, Ph.D. is a historian of architecture and a scientific and pedagogical worker at the Institute of Theory and History of Architecture at the Faculty of Architecture of ČVUT. She focuses on the history of architecture and urbanism of the 20th century, dealing with the issues of post-war architecture and the question of its heritage protection, and currently she is also addressing the topic of female architects in the second half of the 20th century. In addition to her work at the Faculty of Architecture of ČVUT, she is also affiliated with the Department of Theory of History and Art at UMPRUM. Apart from her extensive publication activities, she is the author of the books Prague Visions and Unbuilt Prague, and last but not least, she is a laureate of the Josef Hlávka Award and the Rector's Award of ČVUT in Prague. She received both awards for the year 2015, when her dissertation work on the topic of unrealized urban planning projects in Prague and the banks of the Vltava in the context of the transformation of the city of Prague was recognized.
