Kruh invites you to a series of lectures on contemporary architecture
Marek Štěpán and Sacred Buildings
June 7, 2012, 19:30
Brno architect Marek Jan Štěpán will present his realizations of sacred buildings in Ostrava, Šumná, and other places. A new church can significantly influence or directly define the public space of a municipality or city. One of the great examples is the Church of the Holy Spirit in Šumná, for which Marek Štěpán received the Award of the Club for Old Prague last year. There will also be a perspective from the other side – during the evening, the pastor of the Church of the Holy Spirit in Ostrava-Zábřeh, Vítězslav Řehulka, will also speak.

The Civic Association Kruh has been organizing public events and lectures focused on contemporary events in architecture since 2001. The aim of the lectures and discussions is to facilitate a dialogue about quality Czech and world architecture and architectural creation with broader segments of the public - that is, beyond a narrow circle of experts and architecture students. Kruh has already organized more than a hundred lectures by significant and emerging Czech and foreign architects and architecture theorists, two film festivals on architecture, and an exhibition titled Profession: Architect. It regularly publishes anthologies of Texts on Architecture. The Civic Association Kruh is also the initiator of Architecture Day, which first took place in October 2011 and had a surprising turnout of approximately 3,000 people.
