We cordially invite you to another lecture in the series dedicated to the typology of building forms – Mark Dudek from Great Britain will speak on Monday May 2, 2016, at 6:30 PM at the Faculty of Architecture of Czech Technical University in Prague in lecture hall 155.
Mark Dudek is a specialist in the design of schools and children's centers. In addition to his active design practice (www.markdudek.com), he also focuses on consulting and, above all, the integration of practice with research. He is the author of several articles and key publications in the field of building design for education: “Schools and Kindergartens - a Design Manual” and “Children's Spaces.” Mark is also involved in research and teaching practice at Sheffield University School of Architecture.
Mark Dudek understands schools and spaces for children as highly specific environments that reflect the constantly changing pedagogical theories, fine spatial and psychological requirements of children, and the practical demands associated with this specific type of building.
The lecture series dedicated to the typology of building types is organized by the Institute of Building Science at the Faculty of Architecture of Czech Technical University in Prague. Individual lectures by foreign guests will gradually introduce the types of buildings we most frequently encounter in design practice and usage – housing, educational buildings, offices, etc. The goal of the series is to present the significance of typology as a scientific discipline, to describe the development of new types of buildings and their combinations that can be observed in the contemporary world, and to explore the methods by which these new forms can be grasped and studied. One of the key questions also involves the possibilities of connecting research with the public and, consequently, the private sector.
