Since the end of September, the Faculty of Architecture and Design at STU in Bratislava has been hosting the seventh edition of the event Reflexie architektúry. The project maps the architectural scenes of selected countries and has so far reflected the contemporary architectural scene of Slovakia, the Czech Republic, Austria, Slovenia, Germany, and Norway. This year, within the lecture series, the contemporary Hungarian architectural scene will be presented, which is currently developing dynamically and can be inspiring for Slovakia in many ways. The selection of speakers includes architects representing all actively creating generations and the most important trends in contemporary Hungarian architecture. The presentations include moderated discussions with the audience. The performances are recorded, archived, and accessible even after the event has concluded. As part of the project, a unique material is created that serves as a record of the contemporary architectural discussion and as a publicly available source of information. The format of Reflexie architektúry also includes a series of monographs capturing the lectures and critical reactions from the audience. Reflexie architektúry returns to the physical environment of the Faculty of Architecture and Design in Bratislava after two years in the online space, which is open to architects, students, and the general public interested in architecture. Another guest speaker in the series of lectures Reflexie architektúry 2022 dedicated to Hungarian architecture is Csaba Nagy from the studio Archikon Architects. The studio creates architectural works of various typologies, responding to the required architectural program and location with unique forms. This holistic approach is most evident in their reconstruction work. Behind each new project of Archikon lies complex thinking that shapes the idea of an optimal concept, which, together with the technical solution, harmonizes the reconstruction works. Archikon perceives renewal as an independent new work that emerges within the existing historical structure, responds to new functions, and creates a new operational framework (Budai Vigadó, 2018, Párisi udvar, 2019, Millennium Háza, 2019). Significant projects of the studio also include the first passive residential building realized in the Central and Eastern European region (100 lakásos passzívház, 2014). From Archikon's portfolio, we can highlight architectural projects in the field of school buildings in Hungary (Meséskert Tagóvoda kindergarten, 2016, Vizafogó Tagóvoda, 2019, Zöldike tagóvoda, 2022) as well as in India (Zangla Szolár iskola, Zangla, India, 2014). The Vizafogó kindergarten project was shortlisted this year for the European Architecture Prize Mies van der Rohe Award.
