The Architecture Gallery Brno, in collaboration with the Architecture Cabinet in Ostrava and the Association of Polish Architects in Katowice, brings to Brno an exhibition by Japanese architect Takasaki Masaharu from the 2016 International Architecture Biennale in Venice. An architect who stands out not only in Japanese but also in world architecture, he describes his architecture as an "environmental being," created from the concentration of inner human consciousness and natural energy, connecting humanity with the cosmos. In addition to his work in his studio, Takasaki is also a professor at the Kyoto University of Art and Design and has become an honorary member of the Royal Institute of British Architects.

“In heaven and on earth, we seek architecture that resonates with the inner cosmos of our hearts. We strive to create architecture that consists of our own architectural language and space based on the context of regional traditions from around the world.”

The exhibition showcases projects of three unusual houses that sensitively work with the old and the new, where the embedded wooden structures use traditional Japanese carpentry methods of joinery without the use of metals and simultaneously reveals the question of the metaphysical effect of space on human beings.

We cordially invite you to the opening of the exhibition by professor Takasaki Masaharu on Tuesday, December 6, 2016, at 6:00 PM at the premises of the Architecture Gallery Brno, Starobrněnská 18. The exhibition will be preceded by a lecture by Takasaki Masaharu, which will take place at 3:00 PM in the auditorium of the Faculty of Architecture at the Brno University of Technology at Poříčí 5. The lecture will be in Japanese with Czech translation.

The exhibition will be open from Tuesday to Sunday from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM until January 6, 2017. Admission to the exhibition is voluntary. The Architecture Gallery Brno will be closed from December 23 to December 27, 2016, and from December 31, 2016, to January 1, 2017.
