Bohumín – Bohumín in Karviná is completing the total reconstruction of an old apartment building in the Pudlov area, which has been converted into six apartments with a layout of 3+kk. It will be offered for rent to interested parties through a public auction in mid-October. The spokesperson of the town hall, Jana Končítková, informed journalists today. The reconstruction cost 20 million crowns, which the city paid from its budget.
"The old house on Partyzánská Street was one of the last in the city's ownership, where coal heating was still used not long ago. While in the past, similar dilapidated buildings were demolished by the town hall, this time a different approach was chosen," said the spokesperson.
The town hall responded to the long-standing demand from residents for three-room apartments. Four three-room apartments were created from the original eight one-room apartments by changing the layout, and the city newly constructed another two as an attic extension. Each apartment has an average size of about 80 square meters.
"The reconstruction included the replacement of electrical, water, and sewage installations. The building has been insulated and is centrally heated with gas. We adapted the apartments to meet the requirements for modern living," said Kateřina Pálková, head of the housing management department.
The project has been in preparation by the city for several years. As soon as one of the original apartments became vacant, the city did not re-occupy it. "To the last tenant who remained in the building, we exceptionally allocated another municipal apartment. Only after that did the major reconstruction receive the green light. We started it last spring, and the finishing works are currently in progress,” Pálková added.
Bohumín will offer the new apartments to interested parties through public rental auctions. They will take place on Wednesday, October 14. People can view the apartments in advance. The starting price per square meter is 95 crowns. The building comes with a garden and a parking lot with 12 spaces, which means two for each apartment.
Bohumín manages about 4,200 apartments and is thus the largest provider of rental housing in the city. It invests approximately 200 million crowns annually into repairs and insulation.
