We no longer need more buildings. We need to reconsider, repurpose, and reinhabit the structures we have. Architecture should not be a matter of stopping, but of questioning, expanding "decommissioning." There is an environmental reason for this: we cannot afford to waste non-renewable resources and land to create new buildings. We must also realize that what creates our home in the modern world is no longer the structures that confine us inside, but rather the images, forms, and spaces that allow us to be active players and take a critical stance in our society. The lecture will present recent attempts to explain our modern world through answers provided either by disciplines and knowledge resonating with architecture or by responses to architectural problems.
Reservations end 5 minutes before the start of the event; afterward, spots will be offered to visitors without tickets until the capacity of the hall is reached. Thank you for your understanding.
