Public debate on the fate of the deteriorating Ostrava icon Ostravice-Textilie

Two announced guests will not participate in the debate:
- The Mayor of the city of Ostrava Petr Kajnar has apologized due to illness.
- Representative of the Chief Architect's Office has apologized with this explanation: "Due to the fact that the buildings of the former department store Ostravica-Textilia belong to the company Amádeus real, a.s., which is currently dealing with a certain dispute with the city that is expected to be subject to court proceedings, the City Hall of Ostrava, the Chief Architect's Office as a public administration authority in the field of heritage care will not participate in public debates on this matter."

The block of three houses, currently referred to as the former department store Ostravica - Textilia, despite significant decay caused by the owner's neglect of maintenance, exhibits values that are crucial for integrating this complex into the environment of the center of Ostrava. However, their values are now set directly against the needs of the spacious layout planned for the shopping gallery. The current owner has declared a sensitive approach to the values of the historical site, but despite promises, has applied to the Ministry of Culture for the cancellation of heritage protection and subsequently presented his vision for demolishing a large part of these buildings in the media.
