"Since spring 2013, a self-sufficient house made from waste has been under construction in the gardeners' colony in Anděl. This is a modified project by Michael Reynolds, who is known as an architect and builder of entirely self-sufficient houses (Earthships / Zemělodě), which operate without any connection to utilities, collect rainwater that is then used four times, do not need any heating or air conditioning, and are energetically independent thanks to the sun. Building materials used in Earthships include tires, cans, glass, or PET bottles.
The initiators of the Zeměloďka project in Anděl were the Pospíšil couple, who had already participated in the construction of Zeměnka in Sázava and subsequently spent half a year in Taos, where they built Earthships under the guidance of Michael Reynolds. The implementation team of Zeměloďka gradually grew and changed from three people. Currently, a group of about twelve enthusiastic individuals (without legal status) takes care of the project's operations in all its needs.
Zeměloďka is emerging as an attempt to adapt the concept of Earthships to the Czech climate and to create a prototype of a non-violent and independent way of life in the city center. The boat will serve as a showcase / demonstration site and visitor center, a place for lectures, workshops, screenings, etc. The program will be as rich and diverse as the people involved in it. Our intention is to contribute to the positive development of humanity towards self-sufficiency and non-violence through the Zeměloďka project."
