The architecture education at ČVUT has moved up 50 places in the prestigious university ranking. In the category of Architecture and the Built Environment, it ranks first in the Czech Republic. It is also the highest-rated field at ČVUT.

The QS World University Rankings is the most popular source globally for choosing studies. Alongside Times Higher Education and the Shanghai Ranking, it is among the prestigious international evaluations. Last year, architecture at ČVUT returned to the ranks of the 240 best architectural schools in the world after a six-year absence, and this year it achieved further success by moving up to the 151st-200th place in the ranking.

"The movement in the ranking reflects the efforts of our educators, researchers, and students, and is a confirmation of the improving quality of teaching and research at our faculty. We have long been committed to the quality and international reputation of our faculty. It is important to us that our graduates are able to succeed in an international environment," says the Dean of the FA ČVUT, Dalibor Hlaváček.

The connection between theoretical and studio education, and interdisciplinary collaboration offered by the potential of three study focuses – architecture and urbanism, landscape architecture, and design – is among the priorities of the largest architectural school in the Czech Republic. It also plans to open a new master's degree program in Planning and Development.

In recent years, over 120 foreign experts have participated in the education at FA ČVUT, who have lectured, led studios, or collaborated on research projects. Currently, Dutch architect Winy Maas, partner at MVRDV and founder of the research lab The Why Factory at TU Delft, is serving as a visiting professor. Since 2020, the faculty has been part of the international project EuroTeQ Engineering University, which connects six European universities through virtual collaboration.

The good reputation is also supported by the results of collaborations with the public and private sectors, such as through design-build projects. Since 2011, 38 of these projects have been created at the school, involving nearly 300 students working on real assignments. Among their realizations are a prototype of an energy self-sufficient house and a footbridge and hut in the Krkonošsko National Park.

The QS Ranking has been processed by the consulting company QS since 2004, covering 1,500 institutions in 104 locations. It is evaluated based on criteria which include the number of citations, foreign staff and students, and reputation among the academic community and employers. This year, the evaluation criteria have expanded to include sustainability indicators, employment results, and international research.
