Designer Martin Foret on the award-winning TRIVI chair: Collaboration with LD Seating was crucial

The leading Czech manufacturer of timeless seating, LD Seating, and designer Martin Foret joined forces to create the minimalist, detail-oriented chair TRIVI, which caught the attention of not only the visitors of Prague's Designblok but also the expert juries of the prestigious Red Dot Design Award and BigSEE Wood Design Award. The novelty was launched for sale at the beginning of this year.

The goal of the collaboration was to design an aesthetically interesting and ergonomically shaped chair that would be comfortable even during long periods of sitting. "And this is where the collaboration with LD Seating was key. We refined both the seat and the backrest utilizing innovative 3D shaping of wooden elements, achieving much higher comfort while sitting than is typical for these chairs. Then we fine-tuned the prototype with experts from LD Seating so it could go into production. The result of our collaboration is a product that will function just as well in an interior today as it will in ten years," says Martin Foret, adding: "I wanted the chair to have a certain character. When you look closely at TRIVI, you'll find that it is meticulously crafted down to the smallest detail. Yet it still maintains a simple appearance that is necessary for multiple chairs to work together harmoniously. Good stackability is also a given for such a product."

Quality Recognized with Awards

That the collaboration between an established furniture company specializing in seating for offices and public and private spaces and a Czech designer has borne fruit is evidenced by a number of awards that the TRIVI chair (specifically model TR-126W) has already garnered. In addition to winning the Red Dot Design Award 2022 in the category of Home and Seating Furniture, it also boasts the international BigSEE Wood Design Award 2022 in the category of Interior and Furniture. In the domestic market, TRIVI received the Furniture of the Year 2021 award, presented by the Association of Czech Furniture Manufacturers.

Therefore, we are pleased that the TRIVI chair, which is somewhat atypical for us, has achieved such success," says Jakub Huráb, managing director of LD Seating, and Martin Foret adds: "We are very happy about the received awards also because they are proof that progress does not necessarily mean a revolutionary shape."
